Here’s a model of a traditional Continuous Arm mainly drawing from Curtis Buchanan‘s design. I modeled it from plans created by Jeff Lefkowitz, and a ton of Instagram photos of knuckle volutes carved by David Douyard, George Sawyer, and Peter Galbert. So these arm ends naturally (and hopefully) turned out to be sort of an amalgam of those three maker’s styles of carving knuckle volute ends. If the bottom transitions are totally atypical, it’s because I couldn’t find any images online of the knuckle bottoms from behind. So I had to guess how it transitions, hopefully they are fairly accurate.
